The Mortdale town centre could be in line for an upgrade in 2018.
Georges River Council is expected to commence the planning and design work for the Mortdale town centre public domain.
The move follows a notice of motion lodged by Councillor Con Hindi at the December 18 meeting of the council which was unanimously supported by his fellow councillors.
The council will commence consultation with local business owners to ascertain their views on priorities for upgrades, including timing and staging of works, design elements, pedestrian safety and accessibility.
The St George Business Chamber, the Local Traffic Committee and the NSW Police Local Area Command will be consulted during the preparation of designs to determine their requirements for any upgrade.
Appropriate funding for the upgrade will be allocated during the preparation of the council’s 2018-19 budget.
