Photos | Sutherland continue charge towards playoffs

Sutherland have kept up their promising form this season in the NSW Premier Cricket Competition with another win in scorching heat.

Another century to Jamie Brown (109) helped Sutherland defeat North Sydney at North Sydney Oval on Saturday in their one-day fixture.

Sutherland currently sit in second position after nine rounds (of 15) in the first grade competition.

Sutherland won the toss and batted first, posting 286/6 in their 50 overs before bowling North Sydney out for 261 with two overs remaining.

Meanwhile, St George have suffered a blow to their unlikely chances of making the playoffs – after losing to reigning champions Sydney University.

St George travelled to Sydney University Oval on Saturday to play their one-day match in round nine.

The students batted first and posted a daunting score of 5/324 in their 50 overs. It proved too much for a spirited Saints side, who were removed for 305 in reply.

Jonathan Rose top scored for the Saints hitting five sixes on his way to 83 off just 49 balls.

St George now sit in 14th position.
