13 Reasons Why actor Bryan Box has been arrested for allegedly stealing from elderly people in San Francisco.
Box has been charged with nine felony counts in the North Bay area, including burglary, possession of stolen property, and theft by a caretaker of an elder.
The 23-year-old was known for his role as Jamie Garrison on the Netflix series, which was nominated for two Golden Globes and created headlines over its confronting premise about youth suicide.
Local police launched an investigation in October into home burglaries, where Box previously worked taking care of the elderly.
The Marin Independent Journal reported that Box would visit his former employers to discuss his new acting career, including on locally filmed 13 Reasons Why, and offered gifts before later stealing from them.
Box has been linked to six burglaries and accused of stealing and attempting to sell items such as jewellery, medication, a laptop, and cheques. One of the burglaries totalled $50,00 in missing items.
Police searched Box's home in Vallejo, California, during which they allegedly found a number of stolen items.
Police also connected Box to an Oakland pawn shop, where several other stolen items were allegedly found.
He was arrested at his California home after Christmas on December 29, 2017, and later released on $250,000 bail.
He is due to face court again on January 16.
13 Reasons Why returns to Netflix for a second season later this year but it is unclear if Box will feature.
