Eight budding artists from St George Girls High School will have their work turned into a series of postcards after winning a competition promoting mental health awareness.
Aftercare – a mental health services provider – held an art competition last year inviting 190 primary schools and 100 high schools to take part.
Primary school children were asked to colour in some specially-created designs, while older students were asked to create their own art based on the theme sharing the journey.
The eight, standout designs came from St George Girls High School students Victoria Ren, Ana Ona, Caitlin Lowe, Da Lin, Emily Guan, Julianna Chen, Rachel Perera and Tiffany Causer.
They were congratulated during an awards presentation at the school.
“Aftercare were overwhelmed with the participation, receiving countless entries from all over,” Aftercare events and media relations manager Jackie O’Connor said.
“High school students were given the option to create their own design. The stand out works came from St George Girls High School in Kogarah with eight amazing entries.
“These budding artists were presented with framed posters of their work that are set to become Aftercare’s 2018 series of postcards available to the school and at Aftercare events set for release early 2018.”
Primary school children who did well in the competition received vouchers for QBD Books.
