Popular children's entertainment group Hi-5 delighted more than 300 children at an event for children with disability, their friends and family at the Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club on Wednesday.
The Hi-5 performance is the first of a series of events that will be held to celebrate Civic Disability Services’ 60th Anniversary.
The disability organisation started in the Sutherland Shire in 1958 when a group of parents opened a factory so that their children with disability could secure meaningful employment after they completed school.
Civic Disability Services chief executive officer Annie Doyle said the Hi-5 performance at Cronulla Sharks created created opportunities for children to make new friends and reach their potential while having fun and learning some new dance moves.
“Civic Disability Services are proud to be able to present a fun interactive concert for children with disability,” Ms Doyle said.
“Civic was founded by a group of parents wanting the best outcomes for their children – something that we still uphold 60 years later.
“Hi-5 cast members Bailey, Courtney, Joe, Shay and Lachie were very generous spending time with the children after the concert.
“The children could still be heard from the car park singing One, two, three, four - Hi-5!” she said.
Hi-5 cast member Shay Clifford enjoyed the reaction from the audience.
“We love performing for children and to be able to bring smiles to children with disability makes our job even more amazing,” he said.
“My cousin works for Civic Industries where he enjoys doing meaningful jobs and has made many friends. He inspires me.”
