Joe & Harmony’s Trippy Hippy Band are five groovy cats torn from the psychedelic pages of San Francisco history who sing acoustic, tye-dye interpretations of songs from the 1960s.
Joe & Harmony’s Trippy Hippy Band, have been playing saloons, posh clubs and two-bit sleazy dives throughout the world since 2007.
Like a VW Kombi van with The Mamas & The Papas, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, all wailing out of a groovy AM radio, the band takes off at a cool pace with one hand on the good book of revolutionary songs and a third eye on the cosmic gospel of peace and love.
The band are enjoying a resurgence of interest in the era and the music made by The Byrds and The Grateful Dead to hard-hitting anthems of social comment by Bob Dylan, Country Joe McDonald and The Beatles.
Joe & Harmony’s Trippy Hippy Band have become known for their legendary dedication to faithfully reproducing this music in an acoustic format that is both entertaining and, in an historical context, educational.
Sutherland Acoustic present the Trippy Hippy Band on Thursday, February 8 at 7.30pm at Gymea Tradies.
