A man was allegedly hit in the head with a metal stormwater grate in a Cronulla car park after an argument early on Sunday morning.
Police subsequently arrested and charged two men, both aged 18.
A police spokesman said, about 1.30am on Sunday, a group of men approached the entrance to a car park in Croydon Street when they became involved in a verbal dispute with two men.
“It is alleged the two men then ran inside the car park and armed themselves with metal stormwater grates before approaching the group again,” he said.
“One of the group was hit in the head with the grate, causing him to fall to the ground.
“The two men were detained by the group before police arrived.
“They were arrested and taken to Miranda Police Station.
“A crime scene was established at the car park and inquiries into the incident are continuing.
“The injured man was taken to Sutherland Hospital and treated for injuries to his head, face and arms.
“He has since been released.
“Two 18-year-old men were charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“They were both refused bail and will appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Monday).
