More than 1000 items donated by the community were delivered to St George Accommodation for Youth as part of Georges River Council’s charity appeal, Project Give.
St George Accommodation for Youth is a service which assists young people aged 16 to 25, who are homeless or at-risk and often have complex needs.
Georges River Council mayor Kevin Greene said the generosity shown by the community was impressive.
“Georges River Council thanks the community for their support of Project Give,” Cr Greene said.
“Their generous donations made Christmas a bit more comfortable and enjoyable for young people in need within the area.
“Council is committed to helping those people in the community experiencing a tough time.
“In addition to the donations collected from the community, Council staff also contributed a carload of food and toiletries to the appeal.”
Michelle Piotrowski from St George Accommodation for Youth was appreciative of Council organising the initiative and expressed her gratitude to the community for their donations.
“We want to give a big thanks to everyone involved in Project Give.”
“The donations were used for hampers as well as for young people in crisis who desperately need food and toiletries.
“The young people really appreciated the extra food and toiletries in a time when their budget is stretched tight. Thank you for making their Christmas a little brighter and more special.”
