Country trio The McClymonts will headline the entertainment at Georges River Council’s Australia Day Festival at Carss Bush Park.
McClymont sister, Mollie said, “We can’t wait to get to Carss Bush Park for this wonderful family day out. The line-up of entertainment looks great and we’re excited to be part of it.”
And Australian swimming legend Susie Maroney is Georges River Council’s Australia Day Ambassador for 2018.
Ms Maroney will take part in the official proceedings for the council’s popular Australia Day Festival at Carss Bush Park on Friday, January 26.
Carss Bush Park on the foreshore of the Georges River has been the venue for the annual Australia Day celebrations for almost three decades.
The event attracts thousands from far and wide to enjoy the multi-cultural food stalls, family entertainment and market stalls selling clothing, novelties and craft.
Going from 10am to 9pm, the day will include live music, cultural performances, roving entertainers and sideshow amusements.
For Susie Maroney it will be a return to her old training grounds.
The sporting legend trained within the local area with legendary coach Dick Caine at Carss Park.

Georges River Council mayor Kevin Green said that throughout her sporting career, Ms Maroney has set numerous world records, including one as the youngest and fastest Australian to swim the English Channel.
“She has even completed the longest recorded swim from Mexico to Cuba, which is over 200 kilometres, in 37 hours and 43 minutes,” Cr Greene said.
“Outside of swimming, Ms Maroney has been very active in supporting various causes including roles as Ambassador for the Leukaemia Foundation since 1997, Ambassador for the Asthma Foundation since 1989 and Patron for the Starlight Foundation,” he said.
Following the official proceedings and Citizenship Ceremony, Council’s Australia Day Festival will commence.
“Council’s Australia Day Festival has been widely regarded as one of the best local Australia Day events and has been a tradition for many local families and visitors to the Georges River area,” Cr Greene said.
“Supported by Silver Sponsors Aussie, and Fireworks Sponsor The St George and Sutherland Shire Leader, the event will feature something for the whole family,” he said.
The event will also feature a great line-up of performances, children’s activities, amusements rides and culminate in a fireworks spectacular over the waters of Kogarah Bay.
