Animal shelter care
I want to congratulate Sutherland Shire Council and their Animal Shelter team with the prompt action to return a found dog to its owners after Australia Day.
We found a lost and very large dog on our doorstep at Cronulla on Saturday, January 27. The dog had a bad limp due to its foot pads being worn off and his identification tag was missing.
I could not get the Animal Shelter at Taren Point on the phone as they were closed until Monday.
On Sunday morning about 10am I thought to put the details of the dog on the shelter’s website. I was amazed that around 10.45am the dog retrieval team were at our door to identify the dog. They gently led him to the van and found from his chip he came from Woolooware and his name was Hank.
About half an hour later his owner called us to thank us for looking after Hank and next day came round to thank us personally. Troy from the animal shelter also called us later on Sunday to update us on what had transpired since they picked up the dog.
I thought this was really thoughtful of council staff.
We were delighted that such a lovely dog made it home and very pleased with the efficient caring of the staff of the council’s animal shelter service.

Brian, you’re the best
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Brian, the stationmaster at Woolooware Station.
Recently I had a fall on the train, injuring my leg badly. Brian assisted promptly with the most professional medical attention, then accompanied me until my husband arrived. Many, many thanks Brian.
Irene, Woolooware
Bus stop blues averted
On Friday, January 5, I left my handbag at the bus stop in Gymea.
I would like to thank the honest person who handed it in to Subway.
Subway contacted the police and within the hour I had my bag back with everything intact. Thank you everyone.
Shirley
