Georges River Council is bringing back its popular Starlight Cinema to host film screenings at selected locations throughout February and March.
Outdoor cinema events will be held at the new Jubilee Park Adventure Playground in Mortdale, Carss Bush Park and HV Evatt Memorial Park, Lugarno.
People are encouraged to pack a picnic dinner, bring a rug or low fold-out chairs, and enjoy a meal under the stars while enjoying an entertaining film.
There will also be a number of food vendors to choose from on-site.
The outdoor film season starts with the screening of Lego Batman at Jubilee Park Adventure Playground on Saturday, February 24 which will coincide with the park’s official opening.
Despicable Me 3 will screen at Carss Bush Park on Saturday, March 3 and Boss Baby will screen at HV Evatt Memorial Park on Saturday, March 10.
To further enhance its summer events calendar the council will also be holding night markets in Kogarah Town Square on Friday, March 16 and on MacMahon Street, Hurstville on Friday, March 23.
The Hurstville night market event is being held in conjunction with two free cinema screenings within the Civic Theatre including Pete’s Dragon for children at 5pm and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 for older kids at 7.30pm.
The council hopes the night markets will encourage businesses in local town centres to explore options that will help to stimulate the night-time economy in the Georges River area.
The night market events will not only include stalls but will also offer food and entertainment.
All outdoor cinema events are alcohol-free and smoke-free.
