The popular Jubilee Park Adventure Playground at Boundary Road, Mortdale, will be officially opened on Saturday, February 24 with a special barbecue event for the Georges River community.
The $2.5 million playground, which adjoins the Mortdale Community Centre, has been open for play since early January and has received a hugely positive response from local residents and visitors to the area.
Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene said the event is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and experience the Park’s new facilities in a lively atmosphere.
“Hundreds of young families have visited Jubilee Park since it was opened and many have expressed their joy at the Park’s features,” Cr Green said.
“I encourage the community to join us on the day in celebrating this significant new recreational space that has been designed with people of all ages and abilities in mind.”
“There will be lots of activities and equipment to keep you entertained, including junior swings, flying foxes, new picnic and barbecue areas, a walking track, and outdoor gym equipment.
“Bring your bikes and take a spin on the new children’s bicycle track and pack your sports equipment to enjoy the multi-purpose courts.”
Official proceedings will commence at 11am, followed by sausage sizzle and face painting.
Following the barbecue, the council’s Starlight Cinema screening of Lego Batman will commence at 6pm.
This will be the first Starlight Cinema session for 2018 and the first film event for Mortdale Ward.
Food and beverages will be available to purchase from 5pm and admission is free.
Subsequent screenings in March will be held at Carrs Bush Park and HV Evatt Memorial Park.
