The Heart Foundation is hoping this year’s Valentine’s Day will go deeper than chocolates and flowers.
With one Australian dying of heart disease every 12 minutes, the foundation has set its sights on raising greater awareness of the condition that affects 4.2 million people each year.
There to support the cause will be three Sutherland Shire women – Cindy Childs, Amanda Micola and Tracy Moores, who have come together to create a cocktail event at the Bangor Tavern on February 13.
Ms Micola knows first-hand of the devastating effects of heart disease.
“I have a family history of heart disease with my mother and grandfather both passing away from heart failure, so the cause is very close to my heart,” she said.
Former Getaway presenter and Heart Foundation ambassador, Kelly Landry, will also attend.
The event is at 6.30pm.
