A misprint in the latest copy of the Road Users Handbook may have led to celebrations from P-platers.
The print copy features a table of the blood-alcohol level for each sort of licence.
The chart showed P-platers’ limit as 0.05 and not the expected measure of zero.
That zero measure is still in force; a misaligned table gave the false impression P-platers could have a beer.
The limit for dangerous goods drivers was also wrongly listed as 0.05, when it is 0.02.
“Roads and Maritime Services reminds learner and provisional drivers to not drive after consuming any alcoholic drinks or foods containing alcohol and dangerous goods vehicle drivers to have a blood alcohol limit under 0.02,” a spokeswoman said.
Updated handbooks will be available from March 1. The error does not appear in online versions.
