Palette knife artist Jim Flood is holding an exhibition at Hazelhurst in the Broadhurst Gallery.
Insight into the Artist’s Studio documents a step-by-step journey of creating a painting and the installation will consist of a pop up studio with a snap shot view of his home studio in the shire.
He has also created a power point presentation from the beginning of a painting - Colours of Cronulla - to the very end result.
‘‘Living in the shire surrounded by beaches, waterways and bushland, my preference for the palette knife affords me the freedom to paint these magnificent scenes, creating the textures I’m comfortable with,’’ said Flood who has lived in Miranda for 40 years and is now retired.
Flood has produced a variety of oil paintings (seascapes, landscapes) and the works includes many shire scenes and also some well-known historical buildings (such as Joe’s Milk Bar and Paul’s Hamburgers).
He will have 30 paintings in the exhibition and all will be for sale. He will also be demonstrating the art of the palette knife from 10am to 3pm most days.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, February 10 and continues until February 20 and the gallery is open 9am to 5pm every day.
