If the aim of art is to enable people to see the world through new eyes then these children are getting a head start.
They were given a chance to see the gallery’s popular Old Masters exhibition last year as part Hazlelhurst’s tours for toddlers program.
Now the program is set to return, with Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre running art classes and tours for children in the coming months.
The classes are aimed for children as young as 18 months up to three-years-of-age.
They will include story-time, a tour of the gallery and art-making activities.
Hazelhurst also runs a program for children three to five-years and this too includes story time, a tour and art making.
The Little Looks art program is 60 minutes and the pre-schoolers (three to five-years-of-age) is 90 minutes.
There is also a Tiny Tots program where parents with babies 0 to 18 months can have a special tour. This program is free.
The programs aim to encourage children to engage in art at an early age.
The Preschoolers program starts February 23 and will be then held on March 21, May 9 and June 8. Cost is $15. Phone the gallery for session times.
The Tiny Tours program will be held March 29, May 3 and June 7 from 10.30am to 11am. There is not cost for this program.
Little Looks will be held March 29, May 3 and June 7 from 9.30am to 10.30am . Cost is $10.
