I reference to the letters "No lives were lost or any homes destroyed" (Your View, February 7)..
All residents in Bundeena, Mainbar, Waterfall and Heathcote are thankful for the mighty firefighting effort against the two recent fires and the smaller one last week in Royal National Park.
Needless to say they would have been deliberately lit.
However, some people still do not learn like the group who set up camp at Warumbul picnic place at the western part of Port Hacking this Australia Day.
They were seen to openly cut timber with a petrol chain saw, gathered small sticks then proceeded to light an open, flaming fire.
Unbelievable was the one of the words heard from other persons picnicking looking on in astonishment.
Thankfully, the fire lighters were paid visits first by three national park rangers, then a passing water police launch and finally two police officers.
Good on you guys. Throw the entire book at them.
