St George have it all to do if they are to make the NSW Premier Cricket first grade finals after slipping to a two-wicket defeat to Randwick Petersham on Saturday.
Defending 325 at Hurstville Oval, Saints were unable to get the better of Randwick opener Matt Everett who top scored with 124.
St George were always in the game and had Randwick 8-297 before the visitors crept over the line.
Stand-in captain Nick Stapleton continued his outstanding personal season taking 4-64. Matt Lacey (2-57) and Peter Francis (1-59) took Saints’ other wickets, with Chris MacDougal also running out Soumil Chhibber for 24.
The loss leaves St George in 12th place. They are only seven points behind sixth-placed Manly-Warringah but now have five teams between them and the top six with two rounds remaining.
St George host Manly at Hurstville Oval on day one of their two-day, round 14 clash on Saturday.
