The Heathcote Services and Citizens Club, popularly known as Club Heathcote has been closed by administrators until further notice.
Staff arrived this morning to find a sign on the door informing them that the club had closed until further notice.
The club called in the administrators about six weeks ago.
The administrators Andrew Sallway and James White of auditing and accounting firm, BDO Australia held a meeting of creditors on March 13.
Member Valerie Bryant said that staff arrived at the club this morning to find the notice on the door that it had been closed until further notice.
“Staff were not allowed in and are very upset. Some were in tears,” she said.
“The Club had volunteered for administrators to come in a few weeks ago and now this sign appeared on the door.
“Members are devastated. There was no warning or indication,” she said.
An informal meeting of members will be held by the administrators at the club premises at Oliver Street, Heathcote next Tuesday, March 20 at 7pm.
It is believed that the club had been seeking to amalgamate with another club but had been unsuccessful.
The Leader has attempted to contact the administrators for comment.
