Sylvania couple Fay and Jim Leishman will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Wednesday, March 21 with a big party for family and friends over five days and an “open house policy”.
“We would like to share our happiness,’’ Mrs Leishman said. She said those who had been “a special part of their lives” were welcome for “a drink or a cuppa” and could “stay as little or as long as you like”.
Mr and Mrs Leishman both grew up in Kirrawee and bought their home in Sylvania when they first married.
The couple has four children - two boys and two girls - and 12 grandchildren, most of whom are Shire residents.
Mr Leishman worked for Sydney Electricity for 40 years in Miranda and daughters Vivien and Sonia own and operate Sylvania Travel & Cruise in Southgate Shopping Centre. Grandson Dane is a real estate agent for Greg Gilbert Cronulla.
“Life has been, and is, wonderful,” Mrs Leishman said.
“You never know what is around the corner, so while the sun shines, the birds sing, the flowers bloom, the butterflies fly and the rainbow appears in the sky let's all rejoice and share our happiness.”
