Night investigation work starts on Sunday on a project to provide an extra right-turn lane at a busy Caringbah intersection.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) proposes to duplicate the right turn on Kingsway at the intersection of Gannons Road.
The project, which was a 2015 state election promise, aims to improve traffic flow for vehicles turning from Kingsway into Gannons Road.
RMS said investigating the underground utilities would be carried in five shifts between Sunday, March 18, and Thursday, April 5, from 8pm to 5pm.
Funding has been provided from the state government’s $300 million Pinch Points Program, which is designed to ease congestion and improve journey times on key southern Sydney corridors.
The work is separate to plans being carried out to widen the Gannons Road rail underpass.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance, with Cronulla MP and Attorney-General Mark Speakman, announced funding late last year to start planning the widening of the road underpass, with a suggested completion date of 2020.
