Hazelhurst Arts Centre will host its popular ARTEXPRESS Fest Day on Sunday, March 25 with a program of family-friendly artistic activities.
Hazelhurst Arts Centre director Belinda Hanrahan said that the ARTEXPRESS Fest Day, now in its sixth year, brings hundreds of people to the gallery.
Gallery visitors can enjoy art demonstrations, free family art trails, live mural painting in the gardens, art making and face painting.
There will also be artist talks throughout the day, free guided tours of ARTEXPRESS , live music and food.
The 2018 ARTEXPRESS exhibition at Hazelhurst showcases 44 outstanding Higher School Certificate artworks that sees students experimenting across a range of media.
The exhibition at Hazelhurst has been curated by the Gallery’s Kate Milner and this year it is as strong in ideas as ever and reveals extraordinary technical skills by young artists from throughout NSW.
“The students of this year’s ARTEXPRESS explore identity relevant to our time through portraiture, including self and cultural identity, pushed in a range of techniques utilising both old and new styles,” she said.
“The most profound themes this year are the environment , animal welfare, body image, anxiety, poverty and unfair wages.”
