Vandals have left their mark as work begins on an exciting new children’s playground in Pine Park, Ramsgate.
About six panels of a temporary fence around the site were pushed over on Friday night.
Bayside Council is building the new playground, which replaces a much smaller and limited facility.
The site has been cleared and installation of new equipment is about to begin, and is due to be finished during winter this year.
The playground is in a great location for parents, adjoining the beach and bike path and across the road from coffee – the long-established La Promenade Patisserie and a new cafe, Son of a Baker.
The project includes:
- New and improved playground with children’s cycle loop and picnic lawn.
- Junior play area with multi-climb unit, nest swing and rocker.
- Nature play area with balancing logs and stepping boulders.
- Older children’s play area with climbing net, swings and a spinner.
- New park furniture and concrete paving.
- New landscaping.
- Footings for a new shade sail.
Bayside Council will begin a further $4 million upgrade of Pine Park in July.
The money will go towards the design and documentation to relocate car parking and create a six-metre wide promenade along the beachfront.
This project is due to be completed in June, 2019.
