The St George Police Area Command, are warning car owners not to leave valuable items in their vehicles, especially those parked in car parks and on public roads, after a number of stealing’s.
The warning follows a series of recent stealing’s from motor vehicles in the undercover carpark at Riverwood Plaza, Belmore Road, Riverwood.
St George Police Area Command Senior Constable Ray Kerridge said people should remove all valuables from their car, not leave any unattended items in the vehicle and be aware of any suspicious activity.
“Thieves have been reported stealing items like handbags and purses from within vehicles while the owners are loading groceries into their vehicles or returning trolleys to their designated area.
“People should take these items with them when possible, or at least store them out of sight in the vehicle.
“It’s also a good idea to park in well-lit, busy areas whenever possible,” he said.
“It may sound obvious, but always remember to lock your car, and ensure all the windows are fully closed,” Senior Constable Kerridge said.
