Book drive stacking up to be a success
Yarrawarrah Public School is sharing its stories with families by donating pre-loved books to schools in the outback.
As part of the Outback Book Drive initiative, the books will be taken to Broken Hill and shared with families who live on remote, isolated stations.
The school’s first load of books weighing in at 180 kilograms is packed and ready to go, and it’s final load of 120 kilograms will depart next month.
“We are bringing the city to the bush,” school librarian Fay Prideaux said.
“There’s excess here, limited access to resources there – a perfect match.”
