A Tasuku Sekiya double gave APIA a 2-0 lead at half-time at the Ilinden Sports Centre on Saturday night before Josh Symons, Sean Symons and Corey Biczo completed the rout after the break.
Rockdale have slipped to seventh place after five rounds, a disappointing start for a side tipped to challenge near the top of the table, with a dejected Reid ruing another sloppy performance.
“You cannot give simple chances like that to a team like APIA,” he said.
“We said at the break, we’re 2-0 down and they’ve had two chances and put them away. Silly, silly mistakes for the goals and teams like this punish you for those mistakes.
“We don’t seem to get given easy goals. We get on top of teams, make a silly mistake and find ourselves behind and we simply have to stop doing it.”
Rockdale travel to Cromer Park to face Manly United on Saturday night.
