Servet Uzunlar will start another chapter of her career next season, returning to the Western Sydney Wanderers for the 2018-19 W-League season.
The defender, who has made 48 appearances for Australia and almost 80 in the W-League, returns to the elite level after leaving Sydney FC at the end of the 2016-17 season.
Uzunlar, a Sutherland Shire junior product who started her career with the North Sutherland Rockets, was the Wanderer’s player of the year in the club’s inaugural season.
The 29-year-old was part of the Matildas squad that won the Asian Cup in 2010 and has won the W-League championship as well as two premierships.
“It’s nice to return to the club. I feel like the Wanderers have really been a home for Western Sydney,” Uzunlar said.
“You can see it in the fans who are embedded in that, even from day dot which is fantastic.
“I took some time away from the game for various reasons and I’ve just got back to enjoying my football so I’m looking forward to continuing that with the Wanderers.
“I’ve known some of the players and [coach] Dan [Barrett] for a very long time so I’m hoping to have a successful season with the red and black.”
