A police officer will face court in November after a two vehicle crash at Cronulla earlier this month.
The 40-year-old senior constable, who is attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, was involved in an on-duty collision on September 5.
On Thursday, September 27, he was was issued a Future Court Attendance notice for the offence of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
His duty status is under review.
Gai Vieira, of Cronulla, was injured in the incident, and remains in a coma at St George Hospital.
The police officer was pursuing another driver on their mobile phone when he collided with Mrs Vieira’s car at the intersection of The Kingsway and Connels Road.
He was travelling at a speed of 124 km/h in a 70km/h zone, without flashing lights or siren.
The Vieira family who said the incident had destroyed their lives is taking legal action against NSW Police.
The officer is due to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on November 12.
