Sydney FC tuned up for their glamour pre-season friendly with Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-0 victory over St George City on Tuesday night.
The St George-based NPL 2 club welcomed the Sky Blues to Netstrata Jubilee Stadium for the pre-season trial match, with the A-League champions blowing out the cobwebs ahead of their trip to China to face PSG on Wednesday night.
It was Sydney FC's second consecutive pre-season victory with a first Sky Blues goal to Kosta Barbarouses, a fourth in two matches for Luke Ivanovic and a first goal of the season for Adam Le Fondre securing the result.
Alex Baumjohann continued to make a good first impression in sky blue with an assist, with Michael Zullo getting in his first 45 minutes of the new season.
Barbarouses said it felt good being back out on the pitch.
"We faced a different problem with the opposition setting up a little bit defensively and a bit deeper, so we had to find some other solutions and we got some good work in the legs today," he said.
"It was great [to score my first goal]. It's only been a couple of games but it's always good to get that first one which builds confidence ahead of our really exciting game against PSG and the big cup game against Brisbane too."
Sydney FC leave for Suzhou on Saturday morning for the PSG clash before returning to face an FFA Cup tie against Brisbane Roar at Leichhardt Oval the following week.
Sky Blues coach Steve Corica said there were a number of positives to take from the St George City clash.
"A lot of the boys got 75 minutes tonight and we scored three very good goals," he said.
"They made it difficult for us tonight as they defended very well but we'll come up against teams who play a back five and four in midfield, so it's about breaking them down and tonight we did it.
"Each game we're getting better and the boys have been working hard at training so they're probably a little bit heavy but overall it was a good performance."
