The Future of Travel was the theme of an art competition held by Bayside Council for Book Week 2019.
More than 1600 local school children entered the competition.
Bayside Council celebrates Book Week every year with an art competition and activities for school children.
This year, Bayside Council partnered with Sydney Airport to present an aviation themed Book Week art competition.
The awards are typically open for students from kindergarten to year 4.
For the first time, year 5 and 6 students were challenged to enter a collaborative class project inspired by the future of travel, to celebrate the airport's centenary this year.
Bayside Mayor Bill Saravinovski was joined by representatives from Sydney Airport last Thursday, August 29 at the Council's Book Week ceremony to award students prizes for their artwork.
Sydney Airport provided the award winners with four behind the scenes tours.
"It is wonderful to see how talented our young people are and it becomes more and more difficult to judge this competition.
"I would like to thank all teachers and parents for their support and encouragement. I would also like to thank Sydney Airport for its support," Councillor Saravinovski said.
The Book Week 2019 entries are now on display in all Bayside Libraries.
Mascot Library's current exhibition People and Planes: A community view of Sydney Airport runs until January 2020.
