A boat caught fire at Yowie Bay on Tuesday, causing thick black smoke to spread, prompting calls of concern to emergency services.
Just before midday on December 7, firefighters were called to the fire that was billowing from a boat about 20 metres from Yowie Bay marina.
The boat, which was tide to a mooring, had burst into flames moments earlier.
One man who was on board jumped into the water to escape.
Firefighters from NSW Fire & Rescue including teams from Loftus, Engadine, Woronora and Grays Point extinguished the fire after they took a boat out from the marina.
The burnt 25-foot boat was towed back to the marina.
Fire & Rescue Superintendent Scott Dodson said the boat was badly damaged.
"It burnt down to the water line," he said.
"Luckily the male who was on board has very minor burns to his hands and did not have to be taken to hospital.
"He was in the water when we arrived."
Police Marina Area Command is investigating the cause of the fire.
