Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Neurosciences

Melbourne Private Hospital is a 124 patient bed hospital, co-located with Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville. We offer tertiary referral services in the centre of Parkville. Melbourne Private Hospital offers a friendly and supportive staff environment with a strong commitment to the provision of excellence in the delivery of care to our customers.

The neurosciences ward is a 30 bed unit with a 6 bed HDU. We cover neurology as well as complex neurosurgery ranging from craniotomy and removal of tumours and complex spinal surgery including spinal fusions. We are a busy, fast paced and challenging environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Division 1 Registered Nurse with extensive experience in clinical Neuroscience nursing to provide leadership and clinical support on Level 8 at Melbourne Private Hospital.

As part of our team you will be given support to assist you in this role and for you to further develop your management skills.

Position Responsibilities:

• Coordination of the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based.
• Effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service
• Clinical leadership.
• Working as part of the health care team, adhering to Healthscope and site policies and procedures and key performance indicators, and participating in working parties or committees as required.
• Undertaking direct patient care as required, providing guidance and support to less experienced members of the nursing team.
• Maintaining a professional portfolio
• Commitment to ongoing learning and development.

Selection criteria:

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to develop effective relations with all team members
• Excellent clinical nursing skills, preferably with a post graduate qualification in Neurosciences
• Current Registration with AHPRA

This role would ideally suit someone who is flexible, motivated and is well organised.
