Can Machine – Setter Operator

Pact converts primarily plastic resin and steel into packaging and related products that service customers in the food, dairy, beverage, chemical, agricultural, industrial and other sectors.

Your new role

Based at our State of the Art Steel packaging plant in Hemmant, the Machine Setter Operator is responsible for ensuring Can Line team produce at rate with equipment, machinery and materials are set up correctly and fully maintained to manufacture cans that fulfil the production plan on time and in full, meeting quality, safety and hygiene standards as well as specific customer requirements.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be considered for this role you will be hard working, reliable to work and have a strong work ethic as well as;

  • A strong mechanical background
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involvement in RCA’s
  • Setting machine and processing equipment to specification.
  • Operating machine with team to meet the production requirements and rates
  • Operating and adjusting machine settings to ensure the can making process operates within quality specs.
  • Completing all line size change-overs and SUR’s (Setup Reductions) within agreed timeframes.
  • Undertaking maintenance TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) activities aligned to Reliability Strategy
  • Identifying and implementing process improvement solutions.
  • Working proactively to maintain line uptime and ensuring overall equipment efficiency.
  • Work with operating feedback systems to capture downtime accurately
  • Working knowledge of Word & Excel.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Experience machine setting is desirable
  • Knowledge of can making is desirable.
