Your new role
Reporting to the General Manager you will join the Newcastle team to lead the finance function to deliver first class financial information.

As an active member of the Management team, you will be a business partner to operations, focusing on the key result areas of safety, people and service delivery while enhancing financial performance. You will provide Financial Control & Reporting expertise in an accurate and timely manner, on a monthly and adhoc basis. You will support the organisation with robust financial information to help drive decision making and help grow the business.

You will lead an established finance and administration team creating a wining culture and a team that is cohesive in their approach.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential that you possess a professional accounting qualification (CPA / CA) to be considered for this role. You must be able to demonstrate solid commercial experience and current management of staff. It is expected that you are detail oriented and will have a high level of analytical skills, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data manipulation. You will need to have superior written and verbal communications skills. It goes without saying, that you can easily demonstrate experience in a commercial environment where you have been responsible for delivering sound financial advice.


  • Significant experience operating in similar senior roles leading the finance and payroll functions in a complex business.
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting with membership to the CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in accounting and administrative procedures, including payroll.
  • Expert level in reporting, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to facilitate business planning processes.
  • Experience of leading commercial negotiations.
  • Excellent knowledge in using accounting and financial systems, and other MS Office applications (including PowerBi and PowerQuery).
