About Our Client

My client is a well recognised global retailer with its headquarters based in Melbourne. As a result of a maternity leave cover, the opportunity has arisen for a Group Accountant to join the business on a 15-month contract.

Job Description

Reporting into the Group Reporting Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare monthly consolidated statutory reporting (Balance sheet, Income statement and cash flow statement, along with preparation of Group elimination entries)
• Prepare the monthly Finance Report (internal management accounts) for distribution to management
• Assist in the compilation of commentary and analysis on monthly performance and drivers of variances to support the monthly financial consolidation process
• Business partner with Regional Finance Managers and 3rd party accountants to obtain information relevant to monthly/quarterly close process
• Assist in the co-ordination of the group audit process throughout the year
• Drive improvements in the reporting process to improve the quality and timeliness of group reporting
• Assist in compiling responses to monthly/quarterly and other ad-hoc reporting requests

The Successful Applicant

Successful candidate:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• CA/CPA Qualified
• A background at a Big 4 Accounting firm and/or Industry experience in the retail sector
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Great communicator and attention to detail
• Experience with consolidated statutory and management reporting
