Your new company
A well-known and family ran Cairns based technology company with deep ties to the local community are seeking a permanent Senior IT Support Engineer to work on a variety of systems, networking and infrastructure technologies that underpin several key clients in Far North QLD!

Your new role
This organisation offers a range of different technical services varying from Audio Visual deployment to network infrastructure upgrades to printer hardware configuration and everything in-between for several clients in different sectors (mining, financial, medical, etc) across the region.

Started over 15 years ago by a local family (who still run it to this day), this organisation prides itself on prioritising work-life balance and employee wellbeing above all else. From its inception the founders recognised that these factors are fundamental for any business to succeed so several best practices are enforced to ensure their employees are both happy and thriving in the company. These practices take many forms from having yearly Xmas shutdowns, regular workplace reviews, instructing staff to not work past business hours (and paying overtime if this rarely occurs), declining new clients as to not overwork their staff and to not provide 24/7 technical support such that no one has to be on call.

Due to the success of this organisation they are now seeking a Senior IT Support Engineer to work within a diverse and dedicated multi-disciplinary team comprised of Infrastructure, System and Helpdesk Engineers & Analysts to work on and support the various systems, networking and infrastructure technologies of several key organisations throughout the North and Far-North QLD region. The day to day work will see this role resolve and manage a variety of technical issues whilst liaising with the clients as and when required (with site visits if need be). These projects can cover a multitude of areas including migrations, network designs/engineering, cloud architecture, hardware deployments, system integrations and everything in-between. And as mentioned this organisation does not offer 24/7 so no rostering, being on call or forced overtime is required allowing the perfect work-life balance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • The Microsoft technical stack – i.e., Windows 10, Azure, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 etc
  • Virtualisation technologies such as VMWare, Hyper-V, etc
  • Various hardware eco systems (Desktops, Laptops, Mobile Devices)
  • Managing and configuring switches, routers and access points (TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls, etc)
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Technical mindset
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills
  • Driving License
  • Full Australian working rights
