Relaxation is the key: Belinda Kelly helps women with their spinal and shoulder problems.

BELINDA Kelly's remedial massage therapy business Bodies Bellies Babies specialises in treating pregnant women.

She said apart from pregnant women, much of the remainder of her business centred on women aged 28 to 50 years who had problems with their spines and shoulders.

With more than 13 years of experience in her field, Ms Kelly's clients come to her during times of stress, celebration, pregnancy or competition.

Her aim is to help improve their body/mind connection to allow healing.

Ms Kelly, who has used her techniques alongside chiropractors, osteopaths and in wellness centres in Sutherland Shire, now has a team of two other therapists.

She says she cannot count the number of times a pregnant woman asks if she can take home the custom-made bed that allows the client to lie on her stomach and relax while receiving treatment.

"It is extremely relaxing to lie this way, and you forget you are pregnant," Ms Kelly said.

Common problems treated with pregnancy massage include pelvic girdle pain, cramping in calves, mid-back aches, headaches and sciatic pain.

A team member can also visit the homes of women who have given birth and provide a massage there.

Treatments are tailored to the needs of each client, but usually involve a complete full body treatment, with a combination of relaxation and remedial deep tissue techniques.

Meditation and relaxation classes are offered on a casual or small-group basis with techniques based on learning how to breathe deeply and relax the body and mind.
