FANS of the TV series The Hook and Cook can look forward to another seven episodes, now the show has been picked up by free-to-air channel 7Two from January 27.
The unique lifestyle program brings together two of Australia's most popular activities — fishing and cooking.
The "hook" and the "cook" team lives and works in Sutherland Shire. Fisherman Scotty Lyons and chef Paul Breheny take viewers to a new destination where local seafood is sourced and cooked.
"It is a show about seafood and about two guys on a journey, sourcing seafood and showing how to catch it, and also how to cook and prepare seafood," Lyons said.
"On my charter boat I find that customers can catch fish but are unsure of how to cook a whole fish, and nine times out of 10 will go out and buy a nice fillet. But it's not just fish; we source all sorts of seafood."
Breheny said he was thrilled that the show had been picked up by a free-to-air network and would be broadcast nationally.
"It's been five years of hard work and it's paid off, so we just hope it gets received well," he said.
"We're out very early in the morning and we have to catch the fish which isn't always easy, and then we cook them there and then."
Series one has 13 episodes in NSW, Queensland and Victoria. The first six episodes were filmed within a four-hour radius of Sydney including Botany Bay and Sydney Harbour.
Although a season two has not yet been planned, the "hook" and the "cook" are open to any suggestions and sponsorships for another season.
"We're just a couple of local lads from the shire who have worked hard to get where we are now, and hopefully we can make a go of it," Lyons said.
The Hook and the Cook at 11.30am on Sundays, 7Two, from January 27.
