A SUTHERLAND Shire real estate agent is turning his open house inspections into a five-star experience for prospective buyers — and it's working.
McGrath Cronulla agent Steve Day has been offering potential buyers canapés and even hiring pianists to play during house inspections.
"It's about trying to create a positive experience and a wow factor for all my clients," Mr Day said.
"When you're dealing with some of the high-end waterfront properties, you want it to be a different experience."
Mr Day, who began catering open homes with canapés and drinks, as well as lollies for children, last September, said it had been well received by buyers.
"It has had such a positive impact," she said.
"People have been blown away with the way the properties have been presented."
But the unusual strategy also seems to be paying off for Mr Day and his clients.
He recently sold a property in Darook Park Road, Cronulla, for more than $6 million — the third highest sale price in the suburb for a residential home.
"I've gone through a few bottles of Moët and cases of beer, but the buyers love it," he said.
