SARAH Hide has been working as a florist at Cronulla since she was 12, taking over a florist business at 18 which became Cronulla Florist.
Nearly 10 years later she is still trading under that name, but was shocked when a customer told her that flowers she had delivered were of poor quality.
After doing a Google search, Miss Hide discovered the customer had mistakenly ordered through a company called Sarah's Flowers Cronulla.
Miss Hide said she discovered the company, with many Google ads, was based in a Queensland call centre.
She feels the company is trading on her name and reputation and has lodged a complaint with ASIC and Miranda police, but has been told that without taking legal action there's not much she can do.
"I definitely feel it is a scam," she said.
Miss Hide said she was aware of clients ringing the other business and asking to speak to her, only to be told she wasn't in that day.
The manager of Sarah's Flowers, Anthony Rohde, said they had the right to trade as Sarah's Flowers nationally and had hundreds of contracted florists across the country working with them.
"We feel we have the right to trade as that [name] nationally and I can't change our brand," he said.
"We try to avoid this situation and as soon as a florist brings it to my attention, I remove that copy to the best of my knowledge from the website.
"We have the right to compete for delivered flowers to Cronulla just like everyone else on that first page of Google."
He denied staff told callers that Sarah worked there.
