WHEN her then two-year-old daughter Chiara was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes Renee Manea, of Sylvania, decided to raise awareness and money for research with her home-based business, La Petite Princesse.
The business creates sprinkle-filled resin jewellery, and $2 from the sale of every piece from her online shop will be donated to the JDRF Walk for a Cure.
The Manea family last year raised $3000 for research into juvenile diabetes.
"The myth is that people with type 1 diabetes can't eat sugar. but that is not the case," Mrs Manea said.
"You're allowed to have sugar but you have to measure it. To completely eliminate it isn't healthy either."
