THE Wendy Gibbs School of Ballet at Caringbah senior citizens hall was formed in 1990 by former Queensland Ballet Company dancer Wendy Gibbs.
It specialises in classical and jazz ballet, tap dancing, contemporary dance and hip-hop, and also offers stretch and tone classes.
Mrs Gibbs is a life member of the Royal Academy of Dance, to which her staff are registered teachers. Teacher Paul Russell is also an Adeline Genee gold medallist (2009).
"We strive for excellence in performing arts in an inclusive environment that fosters personal growth and quality relationships," Mrs Gibbs said.
"Every child deserves to experience the joy of dance; whether you want to join a ballet company, dance on Broadway or just exercise and have fun, our studio is for you."
The school has open days at the end of each term and a resident pianist.
"Most of my business is word of mouth," Mrs Gibbs said. "We have two girls [Hayley Edwards, 12, and Rebecca Molla, 8] in the Australian Ballet School's interstate training program. They are the sixth and seventh [students] to be accepted from our school in the past 12 years."
Students have the chance at eisteddfods, tap exams and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations up to stage advanced one.
