IN the two years since Carol Reynolds moved to Illawong, she has been horrified by the huge amount of litter near the on and off ramps.
Mrs Reynolds said the rubbish at the off ramp from New Illawarra Road to Illawong and the on ramp from Illawong when heading north is a blight on the community.
"I am absolutely disgusted at the constant and ever-growing collection of all manner of litter, particularly plastic bottles and cans, thrown out of cars onto the side of the road," she said. "It is really bad at the moment.
"It is such a nice area and I don't know who is responsible."
After raising the matter with Sutherland Shire Council she was told it was the responsibility of Roads and Maritime Services, which she contacted.
"It is getting disgusting and no one's cleaning it up," she said.
"I suggested to RMS that they erect signs about not rubbishing."
Mrs Reynolds said the area was cleaned up previously but it wasn't long before the litter built up again.
"It is costing all of us to have other people clean it up," she said.
