PROJECT Youth hosted Youth Homelessness Matters Day to help raise awareness of the problem in the region.
Supported by Sutherland Shire Council, it was part of Youth Week 2015 activities held this week.
Executive officer of Project Youth Kellie Checkley said it was an opportunity to draw attention to an important social issue and celebrate the diversity of young people in the community.
"Generally people in our community assume that we don't have young people who are homeless in the shire — but we do," she said.
"It is hidden away on the couches or spare beds of friends and extended families or in accommodation services such as the one run by us.
"We feel it is important to highlight that homelessness can affect some of our most vulnerable community members."
