IT is one of the biggest junior football competitions in the world and now St George FC can boast one of its titles.
St George under-11s claimed the Kanga Cup earlier this month in Canberra.
The tournament features six games in five days for 338 girls' and boys' teams from under-9s to under-18s. It is recognised as the largest international youth football competition in the southern hemisphere.
St George won the prestigious trophy, now in its 25th year, in fine style after progressing through the tournament undefeated.
St George downed Victorian team Glen Eira 6-2 in the final, thanks to goals from Hassan Hamoud, Maxim Krimotat, Chris Paras, Stefano Rossello and a double to Jack Smiles.
Earlier, St George had topped pool B after a 3-3 draw with Shellharbour in their opening match.
The team went on to beat Glenmore Park (9-0), Adelaide's Wt Birkalla (6-1), Karori Glory from New Zealand (2-1) and Tweed United (6-2).
In other football news, Rockdale City and Sutherland will attempt to keep their National Premier Leagues NSW Men's 1 finals hopes alive this weekend.
Rockdale will travel to Edensor Park on Sunday to face fifth-placed Sydney United 58 while Sutherland must win against Manly.
