Stranded by storm: Boat washed up near Oak Park swimming baths removed

UPDATE: A boat stranded in Oak Park pool has been removed.

A Sutherland Shire Council spokeswoman said the boat had washed into the pool after breaking from its mooring at Bundeena.

''The boat was secured by a salvage contractor on Tuesday,'' she said.

''The boat was successfully towed out by another vessel this morning at high tide.

''Several of the stainless steel poles and chain surrounding the pool have been broken and will be repaired as soon as possible."

Tuesday story:

A Beneteau Antares motor cruiser washed up near the Oak Park swimming pools at Cronulla on Tuesday morning.

Richard Morey, of Cronulla Seabreeze Bed and Breakfast, said it was believed the boat had broken mooring during the storm on Monday.

Botany Bay water police said they were notified about the stuck boat earlier Tuesday morning.

Police remain at the scene and will work with a private contractor to see the boat moved.

An NRMA Insurance ranking of Sydney's 10 most storm-affected suburbs said the St George-Sutherland area was five per cent compared to The Hunter region which was revealed as NSW's most storm affected region, accounting for 34 per cent of all storm claims.
