From the suburbs to the studio, Vince Duverge is paving the way towards a career in the Australian film industry.
The recent student from Sydney’s SAE Creative media Institute will join emerging filmmakers, animators, audio engineers, gamers and designers at the college's graduate showcase on February 1.
Graduates will present their major projects to industry professionals, with the aim of securing mentoring, employment, investment and contacts.
Mr Duverge, 20, of Allawah, was one of three aspiring filmmakers who made a short film titled Undergrads, produced during his final trimester of study.
“The film is about a foreign student in Sydney facing a series of unfortunate events while trying to adjust to the Australian lifestyle,” he said.
“We’ve been working on Undergrads for about two years.
"Although we set out to produce it for TV, we decided it would be more exciting and make sense financially to build it as a web series.”
After he graduated, Mr Duverge, who works as a comedian, director and producer, established Vindico Films.
He is now looking forward to presenting the team's Australian web comedy series, which will be released this year.
“I’m hoping to meet new contacts at the Sydney showcase,” he said.
"I’ve got plenty of other ideas for short films and features."
The event is open to the public from 3-5pm.
