Illawong food fanatics-turned-female entrepreneurs Amal Wakim and Jade Spooner will showcase their love of all things sweet and savoury in Europe.
The pair, 23 and 24, are directors of the mobile app My Taste Guide, and recently won Seedstars – Australia’s Best Start Up.
My Taste Guide is a health and fitness app that applies a science-based formula to derive protein, fat and carbohydrate requirements of each individual. It then uses food preferences to meet these in a personalised nutrition plan.
Ms Spooner and Ms Wakim deferred their studies in law and business and left their jobs at Google to chase a new dream.
They will travel to Switzerland in April in 2017 to represent Australia against 65 other countries for a half a million dollar prize towards expanding their business.
“We've grown our manual business from the bottom up and it now generates more than $500,000 in revenue annually,” Ms Spooner said.
“We’ve serviced more than 600 clients around the globe who are eating their favourite chocolate, ice-cream, pizza and pasta and still losing weight.
“We’d love to inspire other entrepreneurs.”
The app is set to launch in December 2016.
