Fun is just the start at the ‘discover sailing’ day taking place at Connells Point Sailing Club on Saturday.
The club will open its doors to aspiring sailors for a day out to be shown how fun, safe, accessible and affordable sailing is with friends or family.
Connells Point commodore Jonathan Branch said the event was a great chance for first timers to have a go at the sport.
“If you’ve always wondered what sailing is all about then this is the perfect opportunity to come and enjoy a free sail,” he said.
“We provide the boats and safety equipment, all you have to do is bring a spare set of clothes, a sun hat, some sun screen and bucket loads of enthusiasm.”
The day offers sailors the opportunity to go for a short sail with an experienced sailor, use the clubs facilities and find out about sailing courses available at the club.
There are courses for all ages and experience levels, with children as young as five able to sail with a parent or guardian.
“A dedicated Discover Sailing host will welcome you to the club, answer any questions about sailing and ensure you have an enjoyable day out with your friends or family,” Branch said.
Interested sailors are encouraged to book a spot.
