After years of planning the new Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre will open on Australia Day.
To celebrate the milestone there will be no entry fee on the day.
The new centre replaces the former Bexley Pool and includes an outdoor 50m pool, a children’s splash pad, and an indoor 25m pool with ramp access.
There will also be a fully equipped health club with fitness classes including Les Mills, community room and crèche, school tutoring and taekwondo.
The centre will also offer learn to swim programs and swim squad training.
A onsite café will offer a range of treats including coffee, sandwiches, fish and chips, sushi and ice-cream.
Bayside Council Administrator Greg Wright encouraged everyone to come down and try the new centre for themselves.
“We are excited that the Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre is completed and within the $24.3 million budget,’’ he said.
‘’It’s an important community asset and one that many residents have been looking forward to using again, and we are delighted that it’s opened in summer for all to enjoy.
‘’FDC Constructions and Bayside Council have completed the project two months ahead of schedule without incident or injury to any worker.’’
BlueFit will be behind the management of the centre.
